I feel like this should work out of the box, being an official image, made to install on vmware.ĮDIT: i was able to get it going by adding a second network card of the type E1000.

So how to proceed here? I am not a linux noob, but i havent used redhat since they went commercial many years ago. I figured out that instead of apt-get, centos uses something called DNF, so i run dnf list installed |grep open, and it confirms that there is no open-vm-tools installed. But its a catch 22, i cant install it without a network card. But i decide to try it anyway to install it. Apparently unlike unbuntu, centos uses something called "open-vm-tools" which isnt provided by vmware, so may not have the drivers. But NOPE vmware tools does not seem to be able to install on centOS. OK so easy, right click and install vmware tools. and network adapter details of VMware host server and its VMs. After doing some research, this is due to the fact that vmware tools is not installed. On VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) 6.5, the web client shows a memory usage alarm with. So that worked, but on first boot, no network card is detected.
